Position purpose:

The Director of College has the broad responsibility for ensuring that the College programmes and teaching faculty are of the highest quality. The post holder directs the development and implementation of its academic plans, college policies and procedures and in collaboration with the senior management team, supervising of its faculties and operational departments. Reporting directly to the Chairman, the post holder has the responsibility of ensuring the effective running of the College across the range of departments as well as overall responsibility for student satisfaction and outcomes. The post holder will collaborate and negotiate with stakeholders, other institutions, government entities and corporate companies to develop forging partnerships. Working closely with the Accounting Manager, the role encompasses the effective management and strategic delivery of the College annual budget and long-term financial plans.

Knowledge, skill and experience requirements:

Essential:

  • Degree qualification at masters’ level or above in Management | Education, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience working within Higher education at a senior level.
  • Demonstrated success to lead and manage an educational institution.
  • Experience in the GCC region (is highly desired)
  • A reputation of delivering successful outcomes at Higher Education Institutions.
  • Strong knowledge and track record of achievements in leadership and management within a Higher Education level environment.
  • Experience in managing, motivating and leading large multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrable experience of proactive contributions to corporate strategic level planning and decision making.
  • Evidence of efficient and effective management of resources, including planning and coordination of staffing and budgetary resources.
  • Experience of providing and utilising relevant management information, statistics and analysis required for decision making processes.
  • Ability to foster relationships within new and existing income streams.
  • The gravitas and presence to inspire confidence amongst sponsors and donors and the ability to form and develop beneficial relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • An understanding of marketing, public engagement and communication challenges facing the Higher Education sector.

University Foundation College Qatar Job Description

Position Summary: University Foundation College is a preparatory college in Doha, Qatar. We currently seek teaching professions who can teach Pre-IFY | IFY International foundation year programme as appropriate; To act as a lecturer to students and perform other duties as necessary assigned by the Head of Academics.

Duties:

  • To teach IFY International Foundation Year students at specified periods in the timetable.
  • To prepare lesson plans and a scheme of work/programme of study for the classes to be taught.
  • To prepare a course handbook for the subject area under the following headings:
  1. Introduction to the subject area
  2. Course expectations
  3. Aims and objectives of the subject area
  4. Structure of lessons
  5. Syllabus structure
  6. Brief Summary of each unit of the syllabus
  7. Reading Lists/Material
  • To give continuous assessment tests as at when due and ensure the marks are ready on specified dates given in order to meet up with the deadline for sending reports.
  • Be involved or assist in organising extracurricular activities within the school.
  • Be involved in invigilating students in internal examinations as well as during the entrance examinations conducted for new students. An entrance examination is scheduled for some Saturdays.
  • To give pastoral care to a group of students.
  • To participate in any cross-college CPD as and when required.
  • Create and improve the use of the VLE and record and monitor student attendance and progress as directed.
  • Maintain standards expected by award making bodies, industry and students.
  • Work with other lecturers to identify and support those students at risk of non-completion of their programme.
  • Support the team of specialist and vocational teachers to embed skills in the subjects they deliver
  • Prepare teaching materials and practical exercises in line with the syllabus and in conjunction with the NCUK and NCC programme of study.
  • Attend and participate in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) as and when required.
  • Undertake such other duties commensurate with the grade of the post as may reasonably be required.

Position Requirements:

Education: Minimum Qualification: Degree or postgraduate qualification in a relevant subject/education.

A Master’s Degree is desirable in the subject field.

Experience: Minimum 5 Years teaching experience at Secondary | Higher Education level, essential the applicant has taught in the Middle East

Professional Qualities: 

  • English as a first language is a must.
  • Have sound content knowledge of the subject area.
  • Must have wide experience of teaching British Curriculum at Advanced Level/Foundation Year Level or any vocational qualifications.
  • Ability to take up additional responsibilities outside the role of teaching the students.
  • Ability to demonstrate how learning can be achieved in the classroom.
  • Ability to demonstrate good presentation methods and appropriate use of a wide range of educational resources.
  • Good observation skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.
