The HR Director supports the General Director in all decision relating to strategic, organisational, and operational people matters for a luxury hotel property. The role helps to drive organisational performance on the objectives of Quality (through effective recruitment, development, and engagement of capable and motivated team members), Performance (through robust performance management, reward and recognition), and Compliance (through compliant and efficient HR Operations, policies & procedures).

Key Responsibilities:

Support and coach the leadership team in any organizational and people topics, to help them achieve their guest service and business objectives.

  • As a Business Partner to the hotel’s General Director and trusted advisor to the management team, support the delivery of the ambitious business objectives of the hotel by locally delivering the strategicHR agenda focused on attracting, developing, engaging, and retaining talent, ensuring effective performance management, supporting organizational design and workforce planning, and ensuring efficient and compliant HR operations.
  • Support and coach the leadership team in any organizational and people topics, to help them achieve their guest service and business objectives.
  • Implement global performance management and talent management and succession planning processes, and follow up on the development and mobility of internal talent, including effective management of promotions, transfers, cross-trainings and task force assignments
  • Project manage the roll-out of new global initiatives at the hotel and contribute to the design and implementation of new tools, e.g. HR information systems
  • Maintain and develop a strong employer brand in the local market and beyond, implement effective and innovative search and selection for senior as well as volume recruitment through a variety of sources, as well as an effective onboarding process.
  • Drive strong colleague engagement through employee communication and creative activities and events, and ensure proactive follow up on engagement survey results and ongoing feedback, handle staff grievance issues proactively
  • Understand the competitive positioning of the hotel as an employer in the market and create appropriate compensation & benefits structures based on market and internal benchmarking
  • Plan and implement an annual budget and manning guide, following up closely on personnel costs, and preparing local management reporting as well as corporate reports
  • Ensures that corporate and local policies & procedures are communicated and implemented.
  • Ensure an efficient and compliant HR administration according to Kempinski standards and local requirements, including supervision of internal and external payroll services.
  • Ensure compliance with local labour and immigration law and handle any legal issues including staff disciplinary actions.
  • Effectively lead the HR team including recruiting, HR administration, and staff accommodation functions

Desired Skills and Qualifications

EDUCATION

  • Relevant university degree, e.g. in law, business administration, economics, HR management (Must have)
  • A Master’s degree and/or a relevant professional accreditation would be a plus

EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 8 years’ experience in HR management roles in the (luxury) hospitality industry, with at least 4 years of leadership of HR teams in an organisation of a similar size (Must have)
  • Significant working experience in the respective region (Must have)

LANGUAGE:

  • Local language: Proficiency in the local language spoken by the majority of staff and management is a must (Must have)
  • English: Proficiency in oral and written English is a must. (Must have) Where English is not the working language at the hotel, at leastvery good understanding and good working knowledge of spoken and written English is required.
  • Other languages would be a plus.

KEY RESPONSABILITIES:

  • Solicit existing and potential customers and follow up established accounts on regular basis.
  • Set up appointments and make personal sales calls, telemarketing and site inspections to all existing and potential accounts.
  • Follow up on lost business and bring information about them to the knowledge of the department superior.
  • Negotiate with all customers and send out offers/contracts regarding individual business.
  • Follow the sales and marketing results and propose corrective actions if needed.
  • Explore industry related data, new developments in certain agencies´ structures, new assignments, industrial complexes, new business centers, new projects which all could be interest and benefit of the hotel and to distribute this information to their colleagues.
  • Entertain decision makers of the Clients in the F&b outlets of the hotel and to take part in promotional activities with them.
  • Keep close follow up on developments of the competitor hotels (occupancy, structural alterations, renovation, special campaigns, rate promotions, marketing efforts, theme events, etc.) Also explore and compare FIT (who is accommodating guests in which hotel) amongst the competitors.
  • Bring ideas and participate in the preparations of the promotional theme events, other promotional activities and invitation lists.
  • Maintain the existence of an efficient customer database system (SFA) which will be capable of identifying report sales calls and other sales activities and carry out updating exercise in certain periods of time.
  • Update customers with the latest developments in the hotel and informs hotel management of all changes in the customer profile.
  • Participate preparing the sales action plans attending sales meetings, developing new ideas such as special pachages, programs, promotional activities undertaken by sales department and / or F&B.
  • Take part in sales training programs, trade fairs / shows, sales blitzes and fam trips assigned by the Director of Sales & Marketing.
  • Keep themselves updated with the latest developments in the hotel including alla activities, promotions, rates of the Hotel and the other chain hotels.
  • Keep department superiors informed of all changes in the customer profile.
  • Prepare reports of each sales calls covering information about the company, their comments, requirements, complaints, of their customers etc.
  • Cover assigned accounts in a designated Segment or geographic area and visit them at least twice annually.
  • On weekly basis, prepare an activity report which will cover sales call reports, site inspections, fam trips, new agencies, meetings, entertainment and other functions they participated in during the week and presents to Sales Director.
  • Accomplish any additional work assigned by Department head or Division head in the time frame required.
  • Cross selling other Kempinski Hotels in the Area and Globally.

Additional responsibilities and tasks can be added at any time according to the needs of the business and of the hotel.

The job of Sales executive is executed satisfactorily when:

  • The Hotel achieves its Financial Objectives and Revenue Objectives.
  • The person achieves their Personal Objectives.
  • The regular assesstments are carried out to the satisfaction of both Director of Sales & Marketing and Sales Executive.

NATIONALITY:

  • Eligible for a working permit in country of hire.

EDUCATION:

  • University Degree or Hotel Apprenticeship.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum one (1) year experience in a Sales position, preferably in a 5 star hotel.
