About the role:

As a Market Practice Leader you will be part of the TMEA leadership team, and will be accountable for coordinating and supporting key Operational Excellence Practice growth initiatives in the TMEA region. The role is part of the Global Operational Excellence leadership team, tasked with growing our global Operations Excellence brand and capability, globally.

For the TMEA region, you will ideally have Operational Excellence and process improvement experience in Petrochemicals manaufacturing and/or O&G Refining.. You will also be familiar with several core Operations Improvement service offerings, such as Diagnostic Assessments, Cost Reduction, Productivity & Debottlenecking, Maintenance and Reliability, Shutdown (Turnaround) strategies, Contractor Management and Strategic Sourcing. You will help clients design and implement solutions in collaboration with our teams that help senior executives manage operational improvement initiatives in various facilities to deliver tangible operational and financial results and ensure safe and sustainable business performance. You will feel comfortable working through a client’s value chain, identifing and proposing performance improvement strategies, and linking operational excellence outcomes to the client’s business performance and their business plan. Additionally, you will be responsible for business development, nurturing and optimizing existing client relationships as well as working on new acquisitions.

This position will enable you to demonstrate your ability to oversee growth of our Operational Excellence practice through IP development and capability building to enhance our service offerings and client impact, as well as ensuring superior client delivery by solving challenges across the entire value chain, assessing the business model, operating system, technical details, organizational capability and culture.

  • Drive the design and execution of consulting engagements in operations excellence to help clients extract and create value safely in their assets, be outcome-focused and ensure client requirements are not only met but exceeded. This includes:
  • Work closely with senior executives to understand their business challenges, identify performance improvement and cost reduction scenarios that impact their business goals and performance and link business performance to the organization’s performance risks;
  • Work across the client’s business portfolio and value chain, while determining when and how to deep dive into technical operations on the process line or shop floor to better manage operational performance challenges and enhance the client’s business value;
  • Communicate and coordinate effectively across diverse client stakeholders, including the client business ecosystem;
  • Identify proactively issues and performance losses concerning the specific delivery activities and liaise with the wider project teams to evaluate potential solutions and pursue the optimal course of actions to minimize adverse impact and maximize project success; and,
  • Build and implement client solutions that fit client culture, business environment and improves client business performance.
  • Lead the development of operational excellence management proposals and provide expertise / advisory support as part of proposal development and support to other team members
  • Grow our OPEX practice by nurturing and leveraging existing strategic accounts / client relationships and, driving new acquisitions and commercial sustainability.
  • Provide expert advisory support of OPEX consulting engagements.
  • Thought leader and creative thinker in operations excellence management with the ability to create new value-enhancing methodologies and approaches;
  • Play an active role in building the firm:
    • Participate and contribute to functional and/or industry networks with the aim of developing and sharing best practices;
  • Be a thought leader in operations excellence management and help build firm capability; and
  • Provide feedback and coaching to junior colleagues to support their development within DSS.

Working Experience:

  • Proven Management Consulting experience with a top tier consulting company
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience in application/facilitation of a wide range of operations excellence techniques from a consulting and technical knowledge perspective;
  • Knowledge and practical experience in business planning and developing performance improvement programs based on business plans and operations within the Oil and Gas sector with an emphasis on Upstream and Downstream (Petrochemical/refineries), Chemical facilities, Water Treatment Plants;
  • Broad understanding of operational excellence best practices and how different management and operations elements are linked together;
  • Ability to effectively deliver training and coaching sessions to senior executives to build/strengthen capabilities;
  • Experience along the entire lifecycle of assets, from concept, design/build, operations/maintenance, modification and asset retirement;
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and team-working attitude to be able to work in fast-paced, multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary teams;
  • Effective leadership skills to drive projects execution in complex environments;
  • Proven track record in relevant highly-hazard/heavy manufacturing industries such as oil & gas, petrochemical, chemical, etc.


  • BS in Chemical/Process Engineering, MBA or MS preferred with 15 years’ experience;
  • Capital project EPC Sr Project Manager – with experience in construction, commissioning and closeout of large scale projects in the GCC in Oil & Gas would be a strong asset
  • Familiar with safe working practices (HAZOP, HAZOP)
  • Experience in preparation of tenders for consulting projects
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English – Arabic will be a plus; and
  • Ability to travel at least 60% each month.
