QA AH-64E MAT Quality Control Aircraft Technical Inspector Non-Destructive Inspection

The QA AH-64E MAT Quality Control Aircraft Technical Inspector, Non-Destructive Inspection, will assist the QAF personnel in the areas of aviation maintenance, logistics, and operation of the AH-64E Apache helicopter, and provide mentorship and on the job training to the QAF personnel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Plan and conduct all Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) for NDI of QAF aircraft, aircraft components, and other equipment.
  • Be proficient in performing the latest NDI techniques (i.e., ultrasonic, eddy current, dye-penetrant and magnetic particle, and X-Ray). Set up, calibrate and operate NDI testing and inspection equipment.
  • Be proficient in the use of all tools and equipment for Penetrant, Magnetic Particle, Ultrasonic, Eddy Current, x ray, and Bond Testing and inspection equipment
  • Provide OJT, coaching, and mentorship to the QAF NDI personnel in the development, conduct, and maintenance of an effective NDI program.
  • Conduct training and certification of QAF personnel for Level I and II certification.

Desired Experience

  • Prior experience serving as an aircraft Quality Control Supervisor for an AH- 64D/E aircraft maintenance organization.
  • Possess the Federal aviation administration (FAA) Airframe & Power plant (A&P) and Inspector authorization (IA) certificate.
  • Prior experience working in the Southwest Asia/desert region.

Education and/or Experience

Complete either the appropriate U.S. Government armed forces training, or the Boeing AH-64E factory training for the appropriate U.S. Government armed forces training.

Alternatively, complete Training and certification, such as, the Airframe and Power plant (A&P) certification may be acceptable with the approval of the designated Government Flight Representative (GFR).

Qualifications

Candidate must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Seven (7) years aviation maintenance experience.
  • Three (3) years AH-64D/E aircraft Quality Control experience.
  • Three (3) years ULLS-A(E) or a similar aviation maintenance management system experience.
  • Successfully completed, and be qualified by an appropriate U.S. Government armed forces aircraft maintenance course (any discipline) or civilian equivalent training. Contractor factory training or other equivalent training by industry shall be reviewed and approved by the Principal CO or his/her designated representative and/or the GFR as substitute.
  • Proficient in the use of computer-hosted interactive technical manuals, aircraft maintenance forms, and other aircraft related documentation.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite to prepare various reports, charts, and other related documents.
  • Proficient in performing aircraft weight and balance for army rotary wing aircraft, using the Automated Weight and Balance Software (AWBS) program, and completing all requisite weight and balance documentations IWA all applicable aircraft Technical Manuals.
  • Ten years Non-Destructive Inspection/Testing NDI/NDT maintenance experience.
  • Certified as a Non-Destructive Inspector Level III, under the American Society for Nondestructive Testing National Aerospace Standard – 410 Level or other equivalent qualifications and certifications from a similarly accredited professional institution.

Language Skills

Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex word and technical documents/diagrams. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret English language professional journals, technical procedures, government specifications or industry standards. Will be required to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries and complaints. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers. Must be able to generate effective oral and written presentations and proposals on complex subjects. 

Mathematical Skills

Must be able to calculate figures and amounts, prices, commissions, and percentages, and to draw and interpret graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  An ability to interpret complex customer requirements and attitudes from verbal, non-verbal, and written communication is desirable. Must be able to read and understand electrical schematics and drawings.

Job Description:

Position Purpose:
The Pilot Instructor is responsible for the accomplishment of ground-based training of foreign based C-17 pilots, including instructing and measuring training progress of foreign crew members who train in the established aircrew training curriculum.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Provides C-17 Pilot procedures instruction in aircraft, classroom, and Weapon System Trainer (WST) simulator or other platform environments.
  • Provides Crew Resource Management (CRM) training.
  • Assists as a Subject Matter Expert in the development of curriculum for new type courses as required.
  • Acts as a Lesson Subject Matter Expert to review existing lessons and/or changes to existing lessons.
  • Provides suggestions to improve and update training policies and procedures.
  • Promotes a positive attitude towards learning and embracing new technologies and tasks.
  • Conducts ground training for other crewmembers to include diagnosis and remediation of student issues.
  • Assists in project and development work as assigned.
  • Performs administrative duties such as scheduling, record keeping, monitoring student progress, counseling, quality assurance, safety, security, and maintenance of training programs and equipment.
  • Must be physically able to enter simulator, experience simulator motion and take cognizance of attendees’ safety when on board the simulator.
  • Must be able to stand up and conduct academic instruction in simulator and classrooms for up to six hours each day.
  • Must maintain proficiency in operation of essential C-17 WST Aircrew Training Devices.
  • Aviation instruction is a highly specialized function that requires the instructor to have prior aircraft operating experience and the ability to hold creditability and the attention of the customer attendees.
  • Must acquire and maintain instrument, take-off, landing, and emergency procedure proficiency.
  • Strong facilitation, and data analysis skills required
  • Maintains a high level of subject knowledge, instruction capability, and expertise.
  • Conducts briefings and debriefings and counsels with pilots for the purpose of developing and maintaining a high level of proficiency.
  • Performs administrative duties relative to training such as record keeping, monitoring student progress, counseling, training development and maintenance of training programs.
  • Provides inputs for courseware corrections and modifications and to update training policies and procedures.
  • Flies the WST (as required) to maintain piloting skills.
  • Other duties as assigned

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

The Instructor shall perform academic and training device events.

  • The Instructor shall manage training operations to include, but not limited to: trainee and instructor scheduling, trainee and training progress management, standardization and evaluation functions, and weapons and tactics functions.
  • The Instructor shall conduct course in line with the provided Course Syllabus
  • Instructor is responsible for creating simulator mission files based off of the subject matter presented in the syllabus.
  • Simulator missions require Instructor personnel to operate the Instructor Operator Station (IOS) and to fly the simulator during WSO training missions.
  • The Instructor will review each trainee’s course training records for attendance and verify successful course completion.
  • Generate status reports that shall provide visibility on student performance, attendance, student involvement, course progression/schedule at the end of each test and completion of course.

Security Responsibilities

The Instructor must have a current Secret security clearance

The Instructor shall take all measures necessary to prevent foreign intelligence collection and/or the unauthorized disclosure of information governed by the International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR) and/or the Export Administration Regulation (EAR). The Instructor shall adhere to the information and technology controls required by DoD 5200-1

Qualifications

Academic and simulator instructors shall be fully qualified Instructor Aircrew experienced in fighter operations (F-15E/S/SA/K/SG, F-15C, F-16, F/A-18, F-22, or other fighter/attack aircraft) with a minimum of two (2) years of experience as an instructor providing academics in either the military or as a civilian instructor, and has had relevant instructing experience within the previous five (5) years.

Language Skills

All instructors shall speak, read, write, and understand the English language (excluding the speaking skill of hearing-impaired employees. This includes understanding the technical details and components related to the F-15 platform.
