The College of Engineering Technology (CET) at UDST invites applications for the Teaching Assistant positions in Electrical Power and Renewable Energy and Automation and Control Systems engineering programs.

Your commitment:

Reporting to the Head of Sustainable Systems Engineering Department, the successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery and evaluation of a broad range of lab based courses within the Electrical Engineering degree and diploma programs in electrical power and renewable energy and automation and control systems. S/he will actively participate in the design of lab instruction material, evaluate student progress and manage the resources of the learning environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for the inventory, monitoring, and maintaining of workshop and laboratory equipment within the specified program area. Teaching Assistants will work with other faculty and staff as required to provide an exceptional learning experience for the students. All employees are expected to contribute to professional and community life within the University and beyond.

Qualifications

A minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related filed: specifically, in the fields of electrical power, renewable energy, automation, robotics, or controls ( A master’s degree is desirable)

Preferred Qualifications:
• 5+ years of employment experience with a combination of experience as a practitioner/professional within the relevant discipline
• Teaching experience in a University setting, institute of higher learning, or industry training environment
• Additional Certificate, Diploma or Degree in Education (e.g. Post-secondary Education, Adult Education or Vocational Education)
• Record of successful participation/support in applied research projects
• Experience in leadership and innovation in technology-based projects
• Background and experience in electrical, electronics, automation and industrial control, industrial instrumentation and measurements, industrial networking technologies, robotics, machine learning, cyber security, embedded systems, Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), PLCs, DCS, SCADA, electrical drives.

Experience
• A minimum of five (5) years of employment experience as a practitioner/professional within the relevant discipline
• A minimum of three (3) years in training/teaching environment
Other Required Skills

Duties & Responsibilities:   

This position requires an experienced and enthusiastic individual who will manage the development of Digital Solutions vertical of IT Directorate, in alignment with UDST policies and procedures. The incumbent is responsible for liaising with internal and external stakeholders, in order to identify UDST requirements and provide business-optimization solutions in a timely and efficient manner.

Candidates should have an outstanding record of experience in Digital Solutions, preferably in a senior level role in education sector, and possess the qualifications necessary to be successful in the role of Supervisor, Digital Solutions. The candidate will support the development of the Information Technology Directorate’s business plan in alignment with UDST’s strategy and work closely with the Manager, Business Applications.

Candidates will set priorities and oversee the identification of emerging opportunities that digital solutions can address to enhance UDST initiatives, operations, and collaboration among business units and faculty. S/he will manage the development of digital solutions, ensure quality assurance, and alignment of policies and procedures with UDST design and development protocols. The candidate will also facilitate process workflow modelling to collaborate on process improvements, automation capabilities and clearly defined end – to- end cases.

Candidates will lead digitalization, and ensure all  applications standards are being enforced, in compliance with UDST policies and procedures. S/he will also ensure data protection practices are in compliance across all systems , monitor the Web Development pool and ensure proper utilization of time and resources is being implemented and adhered by the specialists.

Furthermore, candidates will organize digitalization strategies, and develop and promote best practices for usage, operations and development to aid developers and administrators in developing architecture for expansion. S/he will collaborate with the relevant stakeholders across the university to identify project requirements, and provide software solutions and assist with integration to optimize business processes.

The Supervisor, Digital Solutions will provide professional development support and perform periodic performance reviews for direct subordinates to contribute to the development of employees and must have excellent organizational, leadership, decision-making, delegation and communications skills as well as the ability to act as a mentor to team members.

Qualifications

This position requires an energetic and enthusiastic individual who will provide technical and functional support in the areas of PeopleSoft enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems administration, problem resolution, support, process mapping, system testing and development, security access and training.

Candidates should have an outstanding record of industry experience in a similar or, related role within Business Applications development, and possess the qualifications necessary to be successful in the role of Application Specialist. The successful candidate is responsible for data processing solutions to enhance the University’s ERP systems. The successful candidate will also, develop procedures in coordination with relevant stakeholders to ensure integrity of the ERP system and databases and, ensure that ITIL standards and other policies governing data management are met.

Candidates will assign system access to users at different levels across the University in line with policies, procedures and processes, define user needs and develop data processing solutions with end users on all functional modules and, design and deliver training material for the University’s ERP system in coordination with relevant stakeholders.

Candidates will support in the design, construction and implementation of IT applications in alignment with University  policies, troubleshoot application software and database problems, liaise with business, technical staff and vendors to resolve ERP issues and, prepare reports documenting ERP system and ensuring monitoring and compliance with ITIL standards and University ’s policies and procedures.

Candidate must be able to Configure, maintain and troubleshoot the functional modules of Campus Solutions/HCM/Finance within the PeopleSoft ERP Systems.

Responsibilities also include communicating University policies and protocol concerning ERP system.

Qualifications
